The son of Anna Nicole Smith's late husband who has been fighting with the former Playboy Playmate for years over his dad's fortune, has died.
E. Pierce Marshall died of "brief and extremely aggressive infection" at the age of 67, according to a statement released by family spokesperson David Margulies, Yahoo News report.
Pierce Marshall is most known for his over-decade-long battle with Anna Nicole Smith over the inheritance of $1.6 billion fortune left behind by oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II.
Anna Nicole Smith married Howard Marshall II in 1994 when she was 26 and he was 89.
Since then Pierce Marshall insisted that he was his dad's sole heir and that Anna Nicole Smith was only entitled to $6 million in gifts she received during the year she was married to the oil tycoon.
U.S. Supreme Court has recently reinstated the $88.5 million Anna Nicole Smith was awarded in 2002 by a federal district judge. However, Marshall's appeal of the sum will still be heard in court.
Anna Nicole Smith has announced a few weeks ago that she is pregnant.
