French customs officials said Tuesday they had seized nearly 10,000 meters of fake Louis Vuitton monogrammed canvas, enough to make several thousand counterfeit handbags or wallets.
Three people were detained in the operation carried out at a disused factory in the northern Paris suburbs after weeks of investigation, the customs officials said.
The 300 rolls of canvas were enough to make some 28,000 fake Vuitton wallets or 18,000 handbags. Officials said the corresponding authentic Vuitton items had a total value of EUR 14 million (USD 18.7 million).
