US pharmaceutical company SkinMedica has named Bo Derek, best known for iconic role in James Bond movie, as the face of its Tissue Nutrient Solution (TNS) Recovery Complex line. Derek recently signed a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee in which she will serve as an official spokesperson for the brand. SkinMedica hopes the alliance will significantly increase the brand’s exposure in the skincare market. The deal also marks the first time the 48-year-old model/actor has openly endorsed a skincare line.
The TNS Recovery Complex is comprised principally of NouriCel-MD, a proprietary mix of human-growth factors, soluble collagen, matrix proteins and antioxidants, which purportedly improve the appearance of wrinkles, pigmentation and skin firmness, according to the company. The line is currently available at approximately 2,500 doors in the US—primarily through dermatologists’ offices and medical spas.
The company is adding two new products to the line this spring, including TNS Illuminating Eye Cream, a gentle eye cream that smoothes and brightens the sensitive tissue surrounding the eyes while continuously improving the appearance of dark circles, and TNS Body Mist, a spray formulation that rejuvenates sun-damaged skin with the TNS Recovery Complex and botanical skin brighteners.
The company does not have plans for international expansion at this time.
